COVID Policies

Given the updated CDC guidelines and low case numbers in Montgomery County, masks are currently optional for all students and staff.

Given the nature of the global COVID-19 pandemic it is understandable that many parents have concerns about safety with regard to school policies designed to limit the spread of COVID-19 to members of our school community. We will adopt the following principles and standards as our default for operating.

Cleanliness: Cleanliness is already a priority in Montessori environments, but we will particularly stress the importance of cleanliness to students and our staff will make sure that good sanitation practices are followed throughout the school day.

Masking: Based on current CDC recommendations, masks will be optional for as long as cases remain low. Should cases spike in Montgomery Counter above 200 cases per day, masks will be strongly encouraged. Should cases spike above 500 cases per day, or should a member of the school community receive a positive test, Masks will be required with few exceptions. We will not require or expect mask wearing outside.

Exceptions: If you are not comfortable with our COVID-19 policies we are willing to work with you to meet your needs. The Montessori approach to education is built on flexibility and we believe that flexibility can be utilized through changes to routines, schedules, or peer groups to satisfy most philosophies with regard to COVID-19.
